2018 Sias Beijing Alumni Forum
Monday, January 8 – The frist Sias Beijing Alumni Forum of 2018 was held in Beijing's Haidian District, at the offices of Plug and Play. Sias Executive Vice President, Dong Qiming, Proctor Han Xiaoai, members of the Sias Administrative Office, and members of the Sias Alumni Association were present at the forum. Over 110 alumni residing in Beijing attended the forum.
At the beginning of the forum, member of the Sias Beijing Alumni Association, Zhou Chen, introduced the guests and representatives of Sias. He also spoke about the achievements of the Sias Alumni Association over the past year. After this, Executive Vice President, Dong Qiming, spoke on behalf of Sias and wished the alumni for the coming year. He said that Sias' achievements were in no small part due to its alumni. The Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, also sent a video message (from the USA) wishing the alumni well, and encouraging them to continue their development and progress.
The Forum's theme was "Open Sharing and Mutual Assistance". There were several speeches, the first of which was by New Media Artist, He Wei, from New York, who shared about his accomplishments, his cooperation with the Sias Alumni Association, and the development of New Media Art. Zhu Tianshan, the founder of the Sias Alumni Association, spoke about the development of artificial intelligence and the robot industry. Senior media personality, and chief guest at the Forum, Dr. Guo Yukuan, delivered a speech titled, "The Learning Revolution in the Age of Artificial Intelligence". Finally, Zhao Chen, the Plug and Play Managing Partner in China, spoke of the development of projects at Plug and Play's incubator, and encouraged active engagement between entrepreneurs and Sias alumni in Beijing.
At the end of the Forum, Sias Executive Vice President, Dong Qiming, along with members of Sias' Beijing alumni, and Plug and Play, opened the 'Beijing Sias Alumni Entrepreneurship Center'. The goal of the center is to foster entrepreneurship among Sias alumni in Beijing. Sias Proctor, Han Xiaoai, announced the opening of the 'Beijing Sias Alumni Cafe', an exclusive space to for the exchange of ideas and cooperation among Sias alumni in Beijing.
