President of Nanhua University visits Sias
Wednesday, May 29 - The President of Nanhua University, Lin Tsong-Ming, visited Sias University on the 28th of May. He was accompanied by the Deputy Executive Director of the International & Cross-Strait Institute, Lin Yuelong. Sias President, Chen Sikun, accompanied the guests on a tour of the Sias campus that included the Russian Red Square, Basketball Arena, CUBA Training Facility, Golf Driving Range, Chinese Garden, and Library.
Following the campus tour, the guests had a meeting with Sias leaders in the Library. Chen Sikun welcomed President Lin and spoke about his vision for the cooperative relationship between Sias University and Nanhua University while introducing the development and educational philosophy of Sias.
Lin Tsong-Ming said that he was impressed by the facilities and internationalized campus at Sias. He also spoke of the plans of Nanhua University with regard to cooperation and said that he hoped that the two universities would carry out student and faculty exchanges in order to promote mutual development.
At a formal luncheon, Sias Party Secretary, Ma Jiansheng, and Lin Tsong-Ming discussed the potential for faculty exchanges between universities on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Both said that it would improve the academic level at their universities.
Founded in 1996 as the Nanhua College of Management, Nanhua University is located in Chiayi County in Taiwan. It was founded by the Buddhist monk, Hsing Yun, and is committed to high-quality teaching and educational development. The university has a Center for General Education and 5 colleges, including a College of Management, College of Humanities, College of Social Sciences, College of Arts, and a College of Science and Technology. It has 18 Bachelor's degree programs, 22 Master's degree programs, and Doctoral programs in Management Sciences. 92% of Nanhua University's faculty have doctoral degrees, which places the university at the top of Taiwanese private universities with regard to faculty qualifications.
