Sias Leaders inspect Academic Course Evaluation Work
Monday, November 9 – The Founder, and Chairman of the Board of Sias University, Dr. Shawn Chen, accompanied by Executive President, Wang Jialin, and Vice President Zhao Yuxin, and the heads of the Academic Affairs & Scientific Research Office, the Human Resources Department, the Financial Assets Department, the Supervision & Audit Department, the Teaching Quality Monitoring & Evaluation Center, and the heads of various academic schools, conducted an on-site inspection of the evaluation work carried out for the creation of an authorized bachelor's degree academic course at the School of Business.
The Dean of the School of Business, Gao Youcai, presented a report on the auditing and evaluation of the new discipline (specialization) at the School from 3 perspectives - the overall delegation of work, the investigation of the specialization, and the coordination and solutions to problems. During the on-site inspection, 6 working groups checked materials in accordance with the evaluation index system and provided feedback.
Dr. Chen spoke about the importance and urgency of the evaluation of the creation of academic disciplines (specializations) in newly authorized bachelor's degrees. He put forward 3 opinions on the evaluation work:
- First, the standards should be consistent, and each academic school should promote evaluation according to the national standards;
- Second, all departments and academic schools should create plans to complete required tasks ahead of time;
- Third, evaluation should be combined with daily teaching management.
In view of existing problems with the evaluation work, Wang Jialin put forward instructions:
- First, key indicators and plans needed to be met and implemented;
- Second, careful attention should be given to the standardization of supporting materials.
Zhao Yuxin stressed that the academic schools should be responsible for the evaluation work. At the same time, they should ensure that all supporting materials such as experimental reports and test papers are complete. Talent training programs within the undergraduate framework should be given attention, to ensure the quality of supporting materials.
