China’s first university Han Dynasty Art Museum opens at Sias

Thursday, April 15 - In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and to continue its Chinese cultural education, Sias University's Mingli Residential College held an unveiling ceremony and academic forum for the Sias Han Dynasty Art Museum. Executive President, Wang Jialin, and Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, attended the event. Nearly 100 people, including leaders of the Xinzheng CPPCC (Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference), the Xinzheng Huangdi Hometown Culture Research Association, and the Xinzheng Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism & Sports Bureau were also present.

The museum was built by Chen Lianqing, curator of the Mingli Residential College and the Han Portrait Art Museum in the city of Xuchang. The museum at Sias was completed in November 2020, but it was officially opened to the public on the 15th of April. The museum has nearly 200 articles of brick, stone, and other examples of Han Dynasty art. It is the first museum of Han Dynasty Art that integrates the collection, display, exhibition, research, and education among colleges and universities in China.

In the 1980s, Che Lianqing began to collect articles of Han Dynasty art, and after 30 years of hard work, he has now collected over 1,000 articles. Among those exhibited at the Sias Han Dynasty Art Museum, some focus on life, the transcendence of nature, communication between heaven and earth, and the perfection in everything. There are also works of sculpture that the visiting public can view.

The Dean of Mingli Residential College, Zhang Lanhua, said that he hoped that through this museum, students would learn about the stories and skills of the Han Dynasty, and would dig deeper into the cultural significance of the Han Dynasty and its art.
