Gathering in Harmony and Friendship, Displaying a Fusion of Cultures
To enhance the communication between parents and the University, and display our various campus cultures, Sias celebrates the 11th Annual Homecoming Day on May26, 2012.
At 8:15 a.m., the Creative Sias Homecoming Parade Floats were a wonderful start of the Homecoming celebration. Other cultural activities included military band performances, painting and calligraphy exhibitions, and design arts. They all provided an excellent chance for parents and guests to learn more about Sias.
The 11th Annual Homecoming Ceremony was held in the Opera House. Attendees included delegations from: Sofia University, Green Mountain College, Touro University, Zhejiang University, and the Sias Foundation delegation. Delighted parents and guests from home and abroad attended the ceremony.
During the ceremony, Dr. Shawn Chen introduced the guests and delivered an opening speech. He noted that globalization promotes cultural diversification, and homecoming at SIAS highlights this unique ‘East-Meets-West’ fusion. He also stressed that critical thinking and innovative ability should be of paramount importance in the college students’ education. It was followed by speeches respectively delivered by Dr. Paul Fonteyn, president of Green Mountain University, Dr. Neal King, secretary of the Association of Universities in Asia and the pacific, Mr. Zheng Qiang, president of Zhejiang University and Ms Wang Jianping, representative of parents.
Dr. Shawn Chen awarded Dr. Edward Hammond as Chancellor of Sias International University. Then President Li Haijun signed a cooperation agreement with Sofia University, Green Mountain College and Touro University respectively.
