Healthcare
The Sias Clinic (Outpatient Department) was established in 2010. It is a non-profit hospital integrating medical treatments, prevention, and healthcare. It has a medium-sized layout and has various resources, covering multiple specialties, which give it a vital role at the university. It has internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, stomatology, dermatology, ophthalmology, medical laboratory, medical imaging, acupuncture, and massage departments.
The Sias Clinic (Outpatient Department) carries out medical services for society and serves the majority of teachers, students, and surrounding residents, by undertaking healthcare services and basic medical services for teachers, students, and employees, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of common and frequently-occurring diseases. It is responsible for the prevention and control of infectious diseases at the university, emergency treatment during public health emergencies, and health supervision in public places.
The city of Xinzheng has two large hospitals, one of which is very close to Sias’ North Gate. The People’s Hospital of Xinzheng opened six years ago and is fairly clean and modern. The other (government) hospital is a 10-15 minute taxi ride to the southwest of Sias.

Insurance
Hospitals in China require a patient to pre-pay for procedures. A patient puts down a deposit when they arrive at the hospital, and their care is deducted from this deposit. If/when the deposit has been exhausted, another deposit must be put down. However, Sias will cover almost all medical expenses through the insurance that is provided.
There are two different insurances that Sias provides:
- the first provides a maximum coverage of ¥5,000 for outpatient procedures and medicines.
- the second is a third-party policy that provides for major medical in-patient procedures. The third-party insurance will cover most in-patient procedures up to ¥400,000.
However, the third-party insurance only covers public hospital visits in China, whereas the university insurance covers private hospitals as well as any medicine you might buy. Sias can make a claim to the third-party insurance for expenses you incur and will forward the reimbursement to your (Chinese) bank account. There are some things the Sias insurance won't cover such as dental surgery, cosmetic surgery, massages, traditional Chinese medicine, or any medical work done outside of China.
When you leave the hospital (discharged) you will need to collect certain documents to present to Sias’ Office of International Affairs (OIA) for reimbursement. Before you go to the hospital, or while you are there, we can give you a list of documents you need.
Only Sias teachers are covered under this policy, but we can give you more information about purchasing outside (third-party) insurance for your dependents.
If you travel outside of China, you may want to take out a policy on international insurance.
Security
The Security Office of Sias University is responsible for campus security, stability, and the maintenance of order under the combined leadership of the university's Communist Party Committee and the university administration, with guidance from public security organs. It is a comprehensive public security office.
As of September 2021, the Security Office has 51 members who form the university police who work together for the safety of the university. In recent years, with the continued development of the university, a modern campus security system has been set up, including a high-definition video monitoring system, a visual command intercom system, an intelligent vehicle management system, and a personnel access management system. These upgrades and improvements have improved the security apparatus at the university.
The Xinzheng Public Security Bureau established the Police Office of Sias University in 2015. It is responsible for the public security and policing of the university to ensure a safe campus.
