Since 2011, Sias students have won over 2,000 awards at academic competitions at the provincial level and nearly 500 awards at the national level. In sports, they have won almost 600 provincial-level awards and almost 300 national-level awards. In musical and opera competitions, they have won nearly 600 provincial-level awards and nearly 200 national-level awards. Sias students have also won top prizes at the CCTV English Speech Contest, National College Student Career and Planning Competition, the World Gliding Championships, Milan International Design Grand Prix, World Chinese Debate Competition, and the Cross-Strait College Students Debate.
For its overall strength and contributions, Sias has won awards such as the "Most Influential Brand of Sino-Foreign Cooperative Institutions in China"; "Top Ten Most Influential Sino-Foreign Cooperative University”; "Leading Brand in Education Industry"; "The Most Competitive University on Employment in China”; "Model University for Employment"; “The Strongest Comprehensive Sino-Foreign Cooperative University”; "Most Influential Sino-Foreign Institution"; "Private Universities Brand Strength Award"; "Outstanding Contribution to Education Award"; "Top 10 Universities for Public Satisfaction".
The Henan Provincial Government and the Zhengzhou Municipal Government awarded the Founder, and Chairman of the Board, Dr. Shawn Chen, the honorary titles of "Yellow River Friendship Award", "Leader of the Education Industry in the Central Plains", and "the Shangdu Friendship Award", and have designated him as a "Special Envoy of Talent", in recognition of his contributions toward education in Henan. In February 2015, Sias University won the third "U.S.-China Outstanding Contribution Award" for its introduction of advanced educational concepts, implementation of internationalized education, and nurturing of a large number of outstanding talents for Sino-U.S. cooperation and exchange.
Dr. Shawn Chen is also a former President of the Association of Universities of Asia & the Pacific (AUAP) and is a current Executive Board Member. Many students enter world-class universities for their further studies, while the university has also attracted presidents and leaders of several famous universities to set up agreements for exchanges and mutual development.
The 108th session of the United States Congress in Washington D.C. recognized Sias' achievements and said, "Its unique blend of Western and Eastern culture creates a truly international learning environment to better prepare its students for today's global market. This dual-culture educational environment also fosters greater understanding between the United States and China."
