Sponsored by the Henan Department of Education, Sias International University's School of Physical Education, and Henan University, the opening ceremony of the 13th Annual Wushu Championships of Henan University was held at Sias on the morning of July 3. The chief guests at the ceremony were the President of Henan Student Sports Association, and President of Zhongyuan Institute of Technology, Yu Hailuo; Chairman of Henan Students Wushu Association, and Deputy Party Secretary of Henan Polytechnic University, Wei Zhongling; Deputy Director of the Henan Department of Education, Gao Xiang; Director of the Wushu Management Center at the Henan Sports Bureau, Ma Yanchun; Chairman of Henan province University Sports Association, and Dean of the School of Physical Education at Zhengzhou University, Lin Keming; Secretary-General of Henan Students Sports Association, and Dean of the Physical Education Institute at Henan University of Economics and Law, Cui Wei; Secretary-General of the Association of Martial Arts at Henan Province Student Sports Federation, and Dean of the School of Physical Education at Henan Polytechnic University, Ma Ming; and Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun. Over 30 colleges and universities were represented including teams from Zhengzhou University, Henan University, and Henan Polytechnic University.

President Chen Sikun delivered the opening speech and welcomed the leaders, referees, coaches, and contestants to Sias. He expressed his appreciation to the organizers. He spoke of Sias' traditions, history, educational philosophy, and campus culture. He also spoke of the importance of Chinese martial arts in Chinese culture and its emphasis on self-improvement and courage.

Chairman of Henan Students Wushu Association, and Deputy Party Secretary of Henan Polytechnic University, Wei Zhongling, spoke on behalf of the Henan Students Wushu Association and said that martial arts were a large part of Chinese culture and history, and it was worth learning for its value for fitness alone. She hoped that universities and schools in China would take advantage of this.

After the oaths by the referee's representative and athlete's representative, the President of Henan Student Sports Association, and President of Zhongyuan Institute of Technology, Yu Hailuo, announced the opening of the 13th Annual Wushu Championships of Henan University.
