Sias wins Award at 11th National Minority Sports Games

Recently, the Communist Party of China's (CPC) Henan Provincial Committee and the people's Government of Henan Province issued awards for outstanding units and individuals at the 11th National Minority Traditional Sports Games which were held from September 8 to 16, 2019. Sias University won the "Collective Award".


Approved by the State Council, co-hosted by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the State General Administration of Sports, and the People's Government of Henan Province, the 11th National Minority Traditional Sports Games was the largest and most comprehensive national sports event of its kind in China so far. During the preparation and development of the competition, teachers and students from Sias University participated and contributed to the 11th National Minority Traditional Sports Games. Their work was praised and appreciated by the Organizing Committee.


The Dean of Sias' School of Physical Education, He Zuxin, and the Coach of the Sias Cheerleading Team, Sun Kai, led the Sias cheerleaders at the National Aerobics event and also represented the Henan Team in the competition. At the same time, Cheng Shuang, also a coach of Sias' Cheerleading Team, served as a Deputy Referee. Two teachers from Sias, Sun Ting, and Cao Tiantian, participated in the event as Auxiliary Referees. During the event, the Henan Cheerleading Team, with 8 cheerleaders from Sias University and 10 cheerleaders from Zhengzhou's No.7 Middle School, won the bronze medal.


The designs of "National Unity" and "Dragon & Phoenix Scroll", among other designs of medals and trophies, were jointly made by Associate Professors at Sias' School of Art & Design, Tao Zongxiao, and Wu Zhijian. This was the highest level government design project undertaken by faculty from Sias University.
