Sias Founder attends 70th Anniversary Celebrations in Beijing

Sunday, September 29 - The Founder and Chairman of the Board of Sias University, Dr. Shawn Chen, was invited by the Ministry of Science & Technology to attend celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in Beijing.

A reception for foreign experts was held in the Great Hall of the People on the evening of the 27th. Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and Vice Premier of the State Council, Han Zheng, attended the reception and delivered a speech. On behalf of the Chinese government and President Xi Jinping, Han Zheng expressed his thanks and greetings to all foreign experts and international friends who had contributed to China's reform, opening up and modernization. The reception was chaired by the Minister of Science and Technology, Wang Zhigang.

Han Zheng said that since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and especially over the past 40 years of reform and opening up, the Communist Party of China led the nation to success. Since the 18th Congress, the Communist Party's Central Committee had implemented reforms and strategic plans to promote historic changes and achievements in the era of Socialism with Chinese characteristics. He said that the development in China over the past 70 years was a result of the hard work of the Chinese people and the contributions of foreign experts. These foreign experts had helped the Chinese people with regard to modernization, and it was something that the Chinese people would never forget.

Han Zheng also said that development in China stood at an important point where the Chinese people were making efforts to build a rejuvenated and prosperous society. He said that the principle behind the strategy of innovation-driven economic development was that "development is the first priority, talent is the first resource, and innovation was the first driving force." China would accelerate the nurturing of young scientific and technological talent, and high-level innovative teams at an international standard.

He concluded by saying that China was open to learning from the world and sought cooperation with nations across the world. With this open and inclusive attitude, he said, China would modestly and assertively implement a more open and effective talent production policy. He said that China welcomed more foreign experts to come to China for innovation and entrepreneurship, and for the modernization of China. He said that this would contribute to world peace, development, and human progress.

The reception was attended by long-term foreign experts working in China, representatives of relevant central and stage departments, and leading Party members in Beijing. In total, around 1,800 people attended the reception. Foreign experts from across China took part in the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Dr. Shawn Chen was present for the reception and celebrations, and had in-depth discussions with other dignitaries.

Earlier on the 27th, Dr. Shawn Chen was invited to attend the 'China Science and Technology Innovation Policy Seminar' organized by the Ministry of Science & Technology in Beijing Convention Center.
