On October 28th, the launching ceremony of the 26th Sias International Cultural Week was held at the Italian Square. Ma Jiansheng, Secretary of the CPC Sias Committee, President Liu Xiangyu, Professor Lucy Lu, Provost and Vice President of Sias University, attended the ceremony, and many teachers, students and guests actively participated.
At 9:40 a.m., the launching ceremony officially started. Yue Junliang, Director of the Office of International Affairs presided over the ceremony.
Prof. Lucy Lu delivered the opening speech. She pointed out that the International Cultural Week, as one of the most important traditional cultural activities of Sias University, is a vivid interpretation of Sias’s philosophy of “East meets West, integrating knowledge with practice,” which serves as a bridge connecting Eastern and Western civilizations. Prof. Lu emphasized on the core theme of this year’s International Cultural Week, “Appreciating Multiculturalism and Expanding International Vision,” which aims to stimulate students’ global awareness through diversified exchange platforms, promote students’ growth through exchanges and cooperation, and lay a solid foundation for Sias students for becoming talents in the era of globalization.
Subsequently, Ma Jiansheng, Secretary of the CPC Sias Committee, and President of Sias University jointly add the finishing touches on props of the lion dancing, which not only symbolizes good luck in Chinese tradition, but also marks the official launch of the 26th Sias International Cultural Week. The applause on site was thunderous, and the atmosphere was warm and cheerful.
It is reported that from October 28 to November 2 of The 26th Sias International Cultural Week, a series of wonderful cultural activities will be hold, such as “China Day,” “Asia Day,” “Latin America and Africa Day,” “Europe Day,” “North America/Australia Day” and “International Day”. On the basis of continuing previous classic projects, this year’s International Cultural Wee also innovatively includes a number of new activities, including traditional folk-art performances, Student Association traditional Chinese culture exhibition, photography exhibitions, and China intangible cultural heritage skills experience festival, aiming to allow teachers and students to experience the charm of different cultures, promote inter-campus cultural exchanges and understanding, and deepen international friendship.
In addition, the festival also set up a “Global Youth Camp,” where more than 40 students from more than 10 partner universities from different countries around the world will gather together to participate in the week-long Sias International Cultural Week and explore the profound charm of traditional Chinese culture. At the same time, the school will also hold the “2024 Design and Education International Forum” and the “Sias International Education Exhibition 2024” to provide teachers and students with the opportunity to communicate face-to-face with international education experts and learn about the latest international education trends and study-abroad information.
