The 26th Sias International Day Celebration and Performance

On November 2, the 26th Sias International Day Celebration and Performance was held at the Instruction Opera House Theater. Prof. Marc Aurel Schnable, Dean of the Design School of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Dr. Alan W. Mills, the Tenure Music Professor of Colorado State University-Pueblo, Prof. Tim Metcalf, Dean of the College of Art and Design, Arts University, Bournemouth, Mr. Yang Haicheng, the General Manager of the Construction Business Group of Guotai Xindian Software Co., Ltd. and his delegation, Mr. Liang Hongtao and his delegation, including the Secretary and Director of the Party Working Committee of the IT Industrial Park Community Service Center of Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, as well as Mr. Zhu Guosheng, the Chairman of the Labor Union, Mr. Liu Yong and his delegation, including the Senior Specialist of the Business and Human Resources Division of Foxconn Zhengzhou Technology Park, as well as Mr. Xu Shuaishuai, a union cadre, were invited to attend the celebration. Dr. Shawn Chen, Founder and Chairman of Sias University, A. P. Ma Jiansheng, Secretary of the CPC Sias Committee, President Liu Xiangyu, Prof. Lucy Lu, Provost and Vice President of Sias University, representatives of Sias Global Youth Camp who came from the cooperative universities around the world, representatives of Sias Intercontinental Basketball Tournament who came from the cooperative universities around the world, representatives from the First Henan International Cultural Festival for Educators and Students from China and Abroad themed “Accompany You in Yu, A Journey of Flowers and Melodies Along the Belt and Road,” attended the celebration.

Prof. Lucy Lu, Provost and Vice President of Sias University, presided over the celebration and announced the beginning of the 26th Sias International Day Celebration and Performance.

After the national anthem of the People's Republic of China was sung, Dr. Chen introduced the esteemed guests and delivered an inspiring speech. He pointed out that as Internationalized Characteristic Universities in Henan Province, Sias University has always been upholding the spirit of innovation and internationalization. Sias is firmly committed to nurturing globally competent talents for Henan Province, thereby serving as a pivotal hub for Henan's efforts in advancing its vision of becoming an open and prosperous region. With the theme of “Experiencing Multiculturalism and Broadening International Horizons,” 945 Chinese and foreign educators and students from 49 universities gathered together to experience the charm of international cultures, enhance friendships, and improve the ability of cross-cultural communication. Dr. Chen emphasized that our university remains committed to maintaining a high morale and unwavering courage in surpassing challenges ahead, primarily by centering around the advancement of artificial intelligence and the digital revolution in education, in order to establish a more intelligent, diverse, inclusive, and profound international educational ecosystem, thereby contributing to the establishment of a prestigious, practice-oriented private institution of higher education. Furthermore, as the newly elected President of the International Association of University Presidents, Dr. Chen actively encourages fellow educational institutions in Henan Province to join the IAUP, thereby injecting fresh dynamism into the internationalization trajectory of Chinese education, and promoting higher education exchanges, cooperation, and innovative development.

Prof. Marc Aurel Schnable expressed his admiration for the internationalized attributes of Sias and shared his own academic journey. Prof. Schnable emphasized that the essence of learning goes beyond knowledge acquisition; it is also about expanding one's horizons and paving the way for a fulfilling life ahead. Reflecting on his own experiences, he highlighted the invaluable opportunities he seized, which included traveling to different places, experiencing varied environments and cultures, and savoring a multitude of culinary delights. These experiences, Prof. Schnable firmly believes, have imbued his life with greater depth and vibrancy. He also encouraged students and educators to cherish every moment of their studies and to actively seek out friendships, as these connections will undoubtedly serve as a foundation for future travels and cultural exchanges, and to cherish their time of study and make more friends to prepare for future travels and exchanges.

A donation ceremony was also held at the celebration. Mr. Yang Haicheng, the General Manager of the Construction Business Group of Guotai Xindian Software Co., Ltd., presented a donation of engineering bidding and costing software valued at 1 million yuan to Sias School of Architecture. Prof. Pan Bingyu, the Vice Dean of the School of Architecture, accepted the donation.

After the donation ceremony, the dance "Splendid Flowers in Bloom" served as a stunning opener, setting the stage for the rest of the performance, which included “Oriental Jasmine,” “Celestial Rhythms of Sri Lanka,” “Silk Road - Huten Dance Figurines,” “Peach Blossoms Red, Apricot Blossoms White,” “Dance with Gorgeous Color,” “Youth Dream,” Henan Opera “Chao Yang Gou” and “Harmonious Home," and others, blending tradition with modernity and showcasing a diverse array of cultural expressions, which has been unanimously recognized and praised by the audience.
