From April 17 to 18, Sias held the 2025 Spring Athletic Meet in the East Athletic Field. All Sias leadership, teachers, and students’ representatives gathered together to witness this sports event of youth and passion.
Prior to the official commencement of the sports meeting, all Sias leadership and middle-level administrative leaders pedaled bicycles at a measured pace onto the athletic field. This demonstration served as a tangible response to the national "Healthy Weight Management Initiative" three-year campaign, symbolizing their commitment to motivating faculty, students, and staff alike to engage in regular physical activity, thus to foster a vibrant, health-conscious campus environment imbued with vitality and collective well-being.
At 9:00 a.m. on the 17th, the sports meeting commenced on the East Athletic Field. Distinguished guests included Cui Wei, Vice Chairman of the Henan Provincial Student Sports Federation and International Athletics Referee, alongside Xue Yuyang, former player of Chinese Men's Basketball Team. The opening ceremony unfolded with remarkable energy as each honor guard entered the field in high spirits. National flag guard marched with resolute pride while the military band performed stirring anthems that resonated across the venue. Representing diverse campus departments - administration departments, professional schools, residential colleges, student associations, and union organizations - each guard showcased unique themes and dynamic performances, collectively embodying Sias's vibrant intellectual and collaborative ethos through their synchronized displays of athleticism and creative expression.
Dr. Shawn Chen, Founder and Chairman of Sias University, received the flame from the high-tech robot and lit the torch, symbolizing both Olympic spirit and Sias's pursuit of excellence. The blazing torch inspired Sias community to strive for achievement in competition, academics, and personal growth.
In his opening ceremony address, Ma Jiansheng, Secretary of CPC Sias Committee, underscored Sias's commitment to the "student-first" educational philosophy. He highlighted Sias's efforts to bolster students' cultural confidence through deepened physical education integration, positioning the sports meeting as both a culmination of sports education achievements and a comprehensive showcase of Sias's collective spirit. “This sports meeting embodies the Olympic motto - 'Faster, Higher, Stronger, Together' - serving as a platform to demonstrate our resolve," Ma Jiansheng emphasized. He urged athletes to compete with integrity, approaching each event with full engagement and tenacity, while calling on officiating staff to uphold fairness and professionalism to safeguard the games' smooth, equitable conduct.
Following representatives’ of athletes and referees solemn oaths, a spectacular display of cultural and athletic performances commenced. The venue erupted with energy as vibrant cheerleading routines and synchronized group calisthenics electrified the audience, propelling the opening ceremony's atmosphere to its zenith. On the track, sprinters exploded from their blocks like arrows in flight, hurtling toward the finish line with breathtaking speed. Meanwhile, long-distance runners demonstrated extraordinary perseverance, pushing physical and mental boundaries through sheer determination. The collective events proved equally thrilling, showcasing remarkable teamwork and camaraderie. In the 60m*20 shuttle relay, seamless baton passes and synchronized sprints radiated competitive fervor, while the tug-of-war and group skipping competitions embodied unity, with every participant pouring effort into collective glory.
After two days of intense competition, Sias 2025 Spring Track and Field Sports Meeting concluded successfully on the afternoon of the 18th. Prof. Lucy Lu, Provost and Vice President of Sias University, delivered closing remarks, commending the dedication and exceptional efforts of all referees, organizers, and athletes. She highlighted the event's dual significance as both a comprehensive review of Sias's athletic achievements over the past year and a vivid demonstration of the collective drive of the entire campus community. "The spirit of unity, perseverance, and vibrant progress showcased here must extend beyond the field," Prof. Lu emphasized, encouraging all participants to carry this momentum into their academic and personal lives. She urged students to embody the sports meeting ethos in their daily endeavors, striving to become well-rounded individuals embodying excellence in character, intellect, physicality, aesthetics, and practical skills - the quintessential pioneers of their generation.
Ma Ruihua, Chief Referee and Dean of the Sias School of Physical Education, declared the final competition results. Sias leaders then recognized the recipients of the High Morality Award and Special Contribution Award, presenting accolades to the top three teams in Student Group A,while honoring the outstanding male and female athletes.
Sias 2025 Spring Track and Field Sports Meeting transcended mere athletic competition to become a vibrant celebration of youth, resilience, and collective spirit. On the field, athletes showcased unwavering determination and courage, while spectators erupted in resounding cheers and applause.
