On the evening of May 19, the opening ceremony of the 2025 Sias Intercontinental Basketball Tournament was held at Sias Stadium. Eight teams from Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Mongolia, Hungary, as well as Hebei Xingyu (China), Henan University, and Sias University, gathered to launch this international sporting spectacle. Dr. Shawn Chen, Founder and Chairman of Sias University, delivered the opening address, while Prof. Lucy Lu, Provost and Vice President of Sias University, presided over the ceremony.

Dr. Chen extended a warm welcome to all participating teams and emphasized the tournament’s significance in fostering international sports and cultural exchanges and advancing campus athletic development. He encouraged athletes to "forge friendships through basketball, promote integration through competition, and showcase their best selves while pushing beyond limits." Subsequently, the referee representative and player representative took oaths, reaffirming the judges' commitment to fairness and impartiality and conveying the athletes' spirit of striving for excellence.

Amid thunderous cheers, the participating teams marched in, with athletes proudly waving their national flags. The ceremony then shifted to dazzling performances: the Dragon and Lion Dance Team seamlessly blended tradition with modernity, executing gravity-defying stunts to pop music as a golden dragon soared and twirled, showcasing the allure of Chinese culture. The cheerleading squad radiated youthful energy, while the Juemei Dance Troupe captivated the audience with a series of contrasting styles, igniting the venue with applause.

Following the performances, Dr. Chen initiated the tournament with a ceremonial tip-off, marking the start of an intense showdown between Hungary and Malaysia, which delivered a thrilling basketball feast for spectators.
