SIAS University Holds 2026 Academic Committee Plenary Meeting

On the afternoon of May 20, SIAS University convened the 2026 Plenary Meeting of the Academic Committee in the conference room on the tenth floor of the University Library. The meeting was attended by Yuan Guanglin, Chair of the Academic Committee; Shen Jianjing and Guo Xinsheng, Vice Chairs of the Academic Committee; Gao Sheng, Secretary-General of the Academic Committee; and all committee members.

The meeting was chaired by Guo Xinsheng.

At the meeting, Gao Sheng, on behalf of the Academic Committee, presented the 2025 Academic Committee Work Report. The report provided a comprehensive review of the Committee’s activities over the past year and systematically summarized both the achievements and challenges encountered in key areas, including the development of the University’s master's degree–granting capacity, the advancement of nationally funded research projects, the recruitment and cultivation of high-level talent, the development of academic disciplines and research platforms, and the promotion of academic integrity and ethics.

The report highlighted significant progress in these areas while also identifying opportunities for further improvement and future development.

Yuan Guanglin outlined the Academic Committee’s key priorities for the year, identifying several strategic tasks, including the formulation of the University’s 15th Five-Year Education Development Plan, the recruitment and development of high-level research talent, the advancement of master’s degree authorization initiatives, joint postgraduate training programs, the establishment of research platforms, and the expansion of international research collaboration.

These priorities are closely aligned with the University’s long-term development strategy and provide a clear roadmap for enhancing the quality, effectiveness, and impact of academic work throughout the year, ensuring steady progress across key areas of institutional and scholarly development.

During the discussion session, committee members and academic experts engaged in in-depth exchanges on the year's key priorities, offering valuable insights and practical recommendations. The meeting effectively harnessed the collective expertise of the Committee and reflected the University’s commitment to the principles of expert-led governance and academic excellence as drivers of institutional development.

Moving forward, the Academic Committee will implement the meeting’s directives with diligence, fulfill its responsibilities conscientiously, and advance the effective execution of all key initiatives. Through high-quality academic governance, the Committee will continue to support the sustained development of the University’s teaching, research, and public service missions, while further enhancing its academic standing and social influence.
