School of Law

Sias University's School of Law, formerly known as the Department of Law at Sias International University, was founded in 2003. It was renamed the School of Law in July 2009 and began offering the Law major in 2015.

 

Since the 19th Communist Party's Congress, all the teachers and students at the School of Law have been studying Xi Jinping's New Socialist Ideology with Chinese Characteristics. With Sias University's 'East-meets-West' educational philosophy, the school aims to train students with the knowledge, skills, and broad vision, to produce internationalized talent with an excellent knowledge of the law.

 

The School of Law has a team of teachers with excellent knowledge of legal theory, profound academic achievements, strong legal practice, new teaching methods, dedication, and enthusiasm. The school has 4 teaching departments - Basic Law & Legal Practice; Constitutional, Administrative, and Criminal Law; Civil and Commercial Economic Law; and International Law. There are 28 full-time teachers, including 2 professors, 10 associate professors, 2 PhDs, 6 teachers studying for Doctoral degrees, and 6 bilingual teachers with overseas educational backgrounds.

 

At present, there are 1,040 full-time undergraduates in the School of Law, including 774 in the Undergraduate Program, and 266 in the Associate Degree Program. Students of the school have won many awards in provincial and national competitions and have been published in several papers. The passing rate in the CET-4 and CET-6 exams has steadily improved. The number of graduates passing the judicial examination has grown exponentially, and the number of graduates who pursue their postgraduate studies abroad has also increased year by year. Graduates from the School of Law have joined Communist Party Committees, People's congresses, government offices, Discipline Inspection and Supervision committees, the Department of Public Security, Procuratorial and Judicial Affairs offices, and have also become lawyers and legal advisors for enterprises and institutions.

 

The school carries out academic exchanges and regularly invites famous jurists, judges, prosecutors, and lawyers to present academic reports and deliver lectures to broaden students' knowledge. The school has also established practice bases and internships with the Zhengzhou Intermediate People's Court, the Xinzheng People's Court, the People's Procuratorate, and in well-known law firms in the province of Henan, so that students' theoretical legal knowledge can be integrated with practical legal skills in environments where they will be tested, developed, and improved through practice. The school also plans to carry out student-centered extra-curricular and social activities such as legal publicity, legal consultations, moot courts, legal debate competitions, and court visits.
