Adhering to the university's motto of "East-meets-West; Integrating knowledge with practice", the residential college carries forward the spirit of "unswerving determination, tenacity, smart innovation, and selfless dedication". Moral training, respecting students' interests and hobbies, developing a unique style, and nurturing talent with specialties and abilities, form a part of the mission. They are combined with knowledge, devotion, and integrity, to guide students towards self-management, self-education, self-service, and self-supervision. In addition to an appreciation of art and accomplishment in sport, the "second classroom" features theoretical courses and activities such as the "Community Culture Festival", "Sunshine Sports Festival", "Art Performance Festival", and "Labor Service Day" to set students on a new moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic educational journey.

Boyi Residential College's "second classroom" activities center around the "Community Culture Festival", "Sunshine Sports Festival", "Art Performance Festival", and "Labor Service Day". The Community Culture Festival promotes national rejuvenation among students; the Sunshine Sports Festival aims to help students relieve physical and mental pressure; the Art Performance Festival broadens students' artistic vision and quality; the Labor Service Day encourages students to care about public welfare. The "Sunshine Sports Festival" and the "Art Performance Festival" are both held to aid the effect of theoretical studies at the residential college.
