Sias Founder speaks at WFUNA meeting

From May 30 to 31, the Founder, and Chairman of the Board of Sias University, Dr. Shawn Chen, attended the 228th Executive Committee Meeting of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) in Geneva, Switzerland.


On May 30, Dr. Chen spoke about his ideas and work, using Sias University as an example. He spoke about providing international education opportunities for more young people and nurturing international world citizens. During his time there, Dr. Chen also visited the United Nations office and the Palais des Nations in Geneva.


The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) was established in 1946 and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It has offices at the United Nations headquarters in New York, and in Seoul, Brussels, New Delhi, and Nairobi. The organization is the only non-governmental international organization in the world with the purpose of supporting the United Nations. It maintains a close working relationship with major UN agencies and enjoys a class-A advisory status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).


The United Nations Association of China was established in 1946 and was one of the founding members of WFUNA. Headquartered in Beijing, UNA-China is chaired by the former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce of China, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and President of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, Wang Chao. It is the only nationwide non-governmental organization in China devoted to the promotion of the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter.
