Henan High Education Residential College Reform Research Guidance Center

 

 

1. Introduction

Henan High Education Residential College Reform Research Guidance Center was established on June 11, 2021, relying on Sias University. It is an institution to carry out research on residential college system reform, strengthen college exchanges in Henan Province, and guide the development of colleges and universities in Henan Province under the guidance of Henan Association of Higher Education.

The Center adheres to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, earnestly studies and implements General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition on education work, and comprehensively implements the education policy of the Party and the country. It is committed to promoting the reform and innovation of the residential college system of higher education in Henan Province, providing professional research guidance and practical support for colleges and universities, and continuously exploring a new model of residential college system of higher education that suits the characteristics of Henan Province.

Since its establishment, the Center has built a platform for exchanges and cooperation for colleges and universities in the province by organizing and conducting supervision and research, including "Training Session on Reform of Residential College Education Model,” “International Forum on Residential College Education Reform,” “Construction of Model Reform Demonstration Residential College Exchange Conference,” and “Residential College Tour.” It initiated the establishment of the Henan High Education Residential College Alliance, in order to provide powerful intellectual support and practical guidance.

 

 

2.Duties

(1) Entrusted by the College Working Committee of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee and the Education Department of Henan Province, under the leadership of Henan Provincial Association of Higher Education, to guide Henan colleges and universities to carry out the reform of residential college education model;

(2) Carry out investigation and research on residential college system reform, analyze and sort out the experience problems and countermeasures in the process of reform and promotion, so as to provide reference for the decision-making of competent departments;

(3) Organize and carry out outstanding paper collection and experience exchange activities on the reform of residential college education model in Henan colleges and universities;

(4) Construct the evaluation index system and evaluation method of residential college system reform in Henan Province, and establish the corresponding expert database;

(5) Entrusted to carry out the supervision of residential college system reform of Henan Province in undergraduate programs, and promote the healthy and effective development of the reform;

(6) Organize and hold the annual conference of the international and domestic forum on the reform of residential college education model;

(7) Regularly compile reports on the progress of the reform of the residential college education model in Henan Province; Complete the annual analysis report on the progress of the reform;

(8) Complete other related work assigned by College Working Committee of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee, the Education Department of Henan Province, and the Henan Association of Higher Education.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Henan High Education Residential College Alliance

1.Introduction

On March 11, 2022, Henan High Education Residential College Reform Research Guidance Center issued the “Letter on the Establishment of Henan High Education Residential College Alliance.” After the letter was issued, colleges and universities in the province responded positively and actively applied. On December 15, 2022, according to the decision of Henan Provincial Association of Higher Education, Henan High Education Residential College Alliance was officially established.

The Alliance aims to jointly explore the reform and development law of the residential college system education model through cooperation and consultation among colleges and universities in the province, facilitate exchanges and cooperation, resource sharing, complementary advantages, and overall improvement, and make due contributions to cultivate the builders and successors of the socialist cause of all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, and labor.

 

 

2.Vision

(1) Actively explore the innovation of a new round of talent training mechanism in higher education.

(2) Strive to build residential college into an important position for ideological and political education.

(3) Strive to build residential college into a cooperative and sharing platform for talent training.

Residential College System Research Taskforce, Sias University

1.Introduction

On September 14, 2021, Residential College System Research Taskforce was officially established, marking a pivotal moment in the implementation of the spirit of the on-site exchange meeting on the reform of the residential college system education model in Henan Province. This initiative aims to elevate the theoretical research capabilities of Sias University concerning the residential college system reform, ensuring that the process is guided by scientific principles and that its achievements are effectively translated into practical applications.

 

 

2.Duties

(1) Entrusted by the College Working Committee of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee and the Education Department of Henan Province, under the leadership of Henan Provincial Association of Higher Education, to guide Henan colleges and universities to carry out the reform of college education model;

(2) Carry out investigation and research on residential college system reform, analyze and sort out the experience problems and countermeasures in the process of reform and promotion, to provide reference for the decision-making of competent departments;

Achievements and Activities

 

 

1. Establishment of Henan High Education Residential College Reform Research Guidance Center

Henan High Education Residential College Reform Research Guidance Center was established on June 11, 2021.

Mao Jie, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Head of the Education Department of Henan Province, Diao Yuhua, Member of the Party Leadership Group, Deputy Director and First Class Inspector of the Education Department of Henan Province, and Dr. Shawn Chen, Chairman of Sias University, jointly unveiled the plaque for the Center.

 

 

 

2. Establishment and Development of Henan High Education Residential College Alliance

 

In March 2022, Henan Provincial Association of Higher Education issued to establish Henan High Education Residential College Alliance. On December 15, Henan High Education Residential College Alliance was officially established.

 

 

In March, 2024, Henan High Education Residential College Alliance announced the admission of new member universities. As of June, 85 colleges from 45 universities in Henan Province have joined the Alliance.

 

 

3. Investigation and Research

In December, 2021, Sias organized a survey on the progress of the reform of residential college education model.

In April, 2022, researches were conducted on administrative departments, professional schools, and residential colleges of Sias University.

In May, 2023, Sias representatives visited Southern University of Science and Technology in Guangdong Province to investigate the reform of residential college education model.

In June, 2023, Sias carried out investigations on the first batch of pilot universities for the reform of residential college education model in Henan Province.

In May, 2024, Sias representatives visited Tsinghua University and Beijing Institute of Technology for research.

 

4. Outstanding Paper Collection

In October, 2022, outstanding paper collection on the reform of residential college education and its award ceremony was held.

5. Construction of model residential colleges

 

On December 3, 2022, project evaluation of Henan model reform demonstration residential college was organized.

On December 22, 2022, 29 residential colleges in Henan Province were approved as the first batch of model reform demonstration residential college.

6. Training and Exchange

 

On December 15-16, 2022, "Training Session on Reform of Residential College Education model in Henan Province" was organized.

Diao Yuhua, Member of the Party Leadership Group, Deputy Director and First Class Inspector of the Education Department of Henan Province, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

On May 26-27, 2023, the "First International Forum on the Reform of Residential College Education model" was held. 26 experts from all over the world made keynote reports, and about 500 universities participated in the forum.

On December 8, 2023, the "Construction of Model Reform Demonstration Residential College Exchange Conference" was held.

More than 80 representatives in charge of 29 demonstration colleges in the province attended the conference, which promoted the construction of demonstration residential colleges in Henan Province.

 

 

 

7. Research

 

In 2022, 15 Sias teaching reform projects for residential college system education reform was issued.

8. Residential College Tour

On March 19, 2024, the “Residential College Tour - Exchange in Henan Province” was organized and the first phase was held in Sias University, with more than 200 scholars and guests from the province participating in the Tour.

 

On June 1, 2024, the second phase of the “Residential College Tour - Exchange in Henan Province” was held in Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics. More than 80 representatives from residential colleges in the province participated in this activity.

 

On September 26, 2024, the third phase of the “Residential College Tour - Exchange in Henan Province” was held in Henan University of Chinese Medicine. More than 326 representatives from 75 residential colleges of 52 universities in the province participated in this activity.

On November 26, 2024, the fourth phase of the “Residential College Tour - Exchange in Henan Province” was held in Sanquan College of Xinxiang Medical University. More than 600 representatives from 97 residential colleges of 50 universities in the province participated in this activity.
