Sias Library

Sias Library was bulit in 1998, and the newly-constructed one was opened to the public in May, 2017. It was designed by Prof. Peter Weiss, an architect from Auburn University in Alabama. With a building area of 69,000 square meters and more than 5,600 reading seats, it integrates the functions of literature collection, consulting service, social education, and cultural exchange.

Optimizing Resources, Expanding Services

In recent years, Sias Library has been continuously optimizing its space resources and enriching its collection of literature and information. Sias Library now boasts 48 seminar rooms, over 10 lecture halls, and a comprehensive range of functional exhibition spaces, including coffee area, banquet hall, art gallery, and future education exhibition hall. Furthermore, Sias Library has incorporated thoughtful design elements such as strategic lighting, scenic settings, artwork, sliding partitions, glass walkways, and sleep capsules to enhance its aesthetic appeal and provide a caring, human-centric environment for Sias students and faculty.

Sias Library integrates “collection, search, borrowing, reading, and reference” services and operates in a fully open service mode. It remains open throughout the year, except during winter vacation, with a weekly opening time of 101.5 hours. The collection of literature and information resources is rich and well-structured, encompassing a comprehensive system that focuses on Economics, Management, and Engineering as its core disciplines, while also including Arts, Literature, Education, Medicine, and Law. Sias Library boasts nearly 3 million paper books, 1.62 million electronic books, and access to 28 databases, including China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Wanfang Data. Leveraging the local cultural resources, Sias Library has established a special collection featuring Huangdi Culture, Book of Poetry Culture, local chronicles, and is dedicated to promoting the local traditional and unique culture.
