Sias School of Literature and Law was newly established on January 14, 2023, based on the former School of Law, the Chinese Language and Literature program of the former School of Education, and the Public Chinese Language Teaching and Research Section.
The school currently offers undergraduate programs in Chinese Language and Literature, Law, and Law (Trademark and Patent Direction). It also provides minor programs in Chinese Language and Literature, dual-degree programs in Law, as well as micro-programs in Civil Service Competencies and Literacy, Corporate Legal Risk Management, Trademark and Patent Agency, and International Legal Affairs. With 96 faculty and staff members, the school has established academic units including the Academic Affairs Office, Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Department of Law (Henan Provincial Virtual Teaching and Research Section for Law in Private Universities), Practical Teaching Center, and Moral-Legal Integration Curriculum Ideology and Politics Teaching Research Demonstration Center. While primarily responsible for teaching and research in Chinese Language and Literature and Law, the School also oversees Sias's language promotion work.
The Department of Chinese Language and Literature traces its origins to the Chinese Language and Literature Teaching and Research Section of Zhengzhou University Sias International College, which began enrolling undergraduate students in 2005. The Department has assembled a professional teaching team with rich teaching experience, strong research capabilities, and a balanced faculty structure. Currently, there are 43 full-time and part-time teachers, including 3 professors, 12 associate professors and other senior titles, 8 lecturers, 1 Ph.D. holder, and 1 Ph.D. candidate. Adhering to the educational philosophy of "Integrating Chinese and Western Approaches, Combining Knowledge with Practice," the Department is committed to cultivating high-quality application-oriented talents with profound cultural literacy, strong communication and writing skills, with the vision of building a first-class, nationally renowned program. Currently, the Department has 1,009 full-time undergraduate students in Chinese Language and Literature.
The Department of Law originated from the Law Department of Zhengzhou University Sias International College, which began enrolling undergraduate students in 2003. It was renamed the School of Law in July, 2009, and launched a minor program in Law in 2015. On January 14, 2023, the School of Law merged with relevant programs from the former School of Education to form the current School of Humanities and Law (Language Committee Office), with the original teaching institution renamed as the Department of Law, co-located with the Henan Provincial Virtual Teaching and Research Section for Law in Private Universities. The Department boasts a professional teaching team with profound legal theory, academic achievements, practical legal experience, innovative teaching methods, and dedication. The 49 full-time and part-time faculty members include 2 professors, 11 associate professors and other senior titles, 14 lecturers and other mid-level titles, 3 Ph.D. holders, 1 Ph.D. candidate, over 20 "dual-qualified" teachers with legal or judicial qualification certificates, 8 teachers with overseas study experience, 1 Henan Provincial Outstanding Education Management Talent, 1 provincial and 1 ministerial-level teaching masters, 1 Henan Provincial and 1 Zhengzhou Municipal Academic Technology Leader, 2 Henan Provincial "Teaching Model Workers," and 2 Henan Provincial "Civilized Teachers." Currently, the Department has 1,104 full-time undergraduate law students.
