In order to meet the social demand for communication talents and seize the new opportunities brought by media convergence in particular, Sias University (formerly Zhengzhou University Sias International College) officially established the School of Journalism and Communication in 2011 on the basis of its existing Advertising and Journalism majors. Currently, the school offers 4 undergraduate majors: Journalism (including the Journalism track, New Media track, and Digital Imaging track), Advertising (including the Advertising track and Image Management track), Photography, and Fashion Communication, with a total undergraduate enrollment of over 1,200 students.
The School of Journalism & Communication seeks to nurture international interdisciplinary talent with "excellent English, new knowledge, strong skills, broad communication skills, and sophisticated behavior". It has established modern teaching facilities such as a studio laboratory, digital publishing laboratory, non-linear editing laboratory, and photography and camera laboratory with the Sias News Center, to create a platform for practice for the students. The school has also set up a News Center, which allows students to create their own newspapers, videos, and micro-films, according to their interests.
