The School of Art & Design is a member of the China Industrial Design Association, the Asia Pacific Designers Federation (APDF), the China Building Decoration Association, and the Henan Animation Industry Association. It has a growing reputation in the province of Henan and in China.
There are 1,123 students spread across 3 undergraduate majors - Visual Communication Design, Environmental Design, and Product Design. There is also one major for Animation. There are 50 full-time and part-time teachers.
The School of Art & Design has provincial-level teaching projects, two university-level key disciplines, and one college-level excellent academic course, contributing to the school's reputation and professional standard.
With regard to teaching, the School of Art & Design has an industry-university cooperation agreement with Toonz Animation Academy from India to produce animation professionals at an international level. There is an agreement with the China Building Decoration Association. The school has established cooperative agreements with the Beijing First Education Group, the Henan Industrial Park, Shenzhen RITO Design Co. Ltd., and other enterprises, leading the way in inter-provincial and cross-border ties in the province. This gives students better prospects for business or employment.
Since its founding, the school has prioritized its teaching equipment and study environment. It has a first-class Animation Laboratory, as well as a first-class Apple Computer Lab, Digital Imaging Lab, Printing Technology Lab, Architectural Model Lab, Graphic Design Lab, and Product Design Lab. It also has over 20 off-campus practice bases that give students the required practice and learning equipment and environment for students, and to ensure that students' knowledge is at the cutting edge in China.
The School of Art & Design advocates scientific research and teaching. Over the years, teachers have won 160 national, provincial, and ministerial design and artwork awards. They have presided over or participated in 47 teaching and research projects at the provincial or ministerial level, and a total of 51 textbooks and monographs have been published. Teachers from the school have had 98 papers published in academic journals such as Decoration, Art Observation, Literary & Artistic Contention, and Seeker. Many of them were included in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI). These achievements have driven the continuous development of teaching reform in the various majors of the school.
The school is currently aiming for the international frontier in teaching, scientific research, and practice, striving for reform through painstaking efforts to make the school a first-class design college.
