Fort Hays State University teaches courses in the arts, natural sciences, business, education, health, life sciences, and agriculture through computer network teaching. After graduation, undergraduates can also enter graduate school for their further studies, or seek a career in a complex and changeable global economy and society with the analytical skills and communication they learn at the university. Fort Hays State University has been approved by the American Graduate Council, the American Federation of Normal Education Colleges, the American Federation of Women's Universities, and the National Federation of Business Education.

Sias University is the only institution of higher education in Henan approved by the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council to implement an overseas Bachelor's Degree in a cooperative education project. Since Henan and Kansas have existing ties, the state government offers preferential treatment to students from Sias, with certain project expenses and tuition fees potentially covered by Kansas government tax subsidies. Chinese students who complete 42 credits can complete the degree requirements of Fort Hays State University for a Bachelor's Degree.
