They have promised to "never let a student drop out of school because of financial difficulties in their family." To achieve this goal and effectively help poor students at the university, Sias has explored all the advantages of Sino-foreign cooperation in education, gradually established a three-dimensional student assistance system with awards, assistance, loans, attendance, and relief, and has established a system of "State assistance, University Awards, Social Donations, and Student Self-Help" - a "Four-in-One" model of financial assistance.
Scholarship Categories
The Scholarship Category at Sias is divided into two levels:
the National category: National Scholarship; National Inspirational Scholarship.
the University category: Admission Scholarships; In-School Scholarships; Top-3 Scholarships for Graduates' Professional Achievements; Scholarships for Graduates to Study Abroad; Sias Foundation Scholarships, Off-Campus Scholarship Awards.
National Scholarship
It is a national subsidy policy funded by the central government to reward certain excellent students in undergraduate universities, higher vocational schools, and higher professional schools. It encourages students to study hard, and develop their morality and intelligence.
Standard award: ¥8,000 per person, per year
National Inspiration Scholarship
It is a scholarship jointly funded by the central and local governments to encourage students from families with financial difficulties in undergraduate universities, higher vocational schools, and higher professional schools. It encourages students to study hard, and develop their morality and intelligence.
Standard Award: ¥5,000 per person, per year
Admission Scholarship
According to the admission category, it is divided into ordinary undergraduate, art, music, and sports. The first place in each Arts and Science category will be awarded an admission scholarship with an amount of ¥3,000 per person. A student can also have shown courage, have sacrificed to save others, or have won the title of "Hero Model" at or above the municipal level. If the student has passed the examination, he or she may apply to Sias and find out the amount according to the level of the recommending authority.
In-School Scholarships
A student can qualify for this award if their results meet the standards of special first, second, and third scholarships. Also, if, during the semester, there are courageous or outstanding deeds by the student, the university scholarship can be awarded.
Standard award: ¥800 to ¥3,000 per person.
Top-3 Scholarships for Graduates' Professional Achievements
If the results of graduates meet the first, second, and third standards of their majors, they can be awarded this scholarship. The Top-3 professional achievements of undergraduate, junior college and post-secondary education are evaluated from top to bottom based on the student's GPA.
Standard Award: ¥200 to ¥500
Scholarships for Graduates to Study Abroad
The university selects 4 outstanding students each year and grants scholarships for studying abroad.
Standard Award: The programs for scholarship winners at Fort Hays State University (Kansas, USA) include full tuition, accommodation, and meals. The programs supported for scholarship winners at Sias include full tuition (it is paid according to the credit standards of Fort Hays State University).
Off-Campus Scholarship Awards
In order to encourage students to participate in academic research and academic competitions, Sias sets up off-campus competition awards to reward students who have won awards in academic scientific and technological innovation, sports competitions, culture and art competitions, etc.
Standard Award: Awards up to ¥15,000
Financial Aid Policies
Financial Aid at Sias University is divided into two levels:
the National Level: National Financial Aid; National Student Loan
the University Level: Student Entrepreneurship Micro-Loan; Alumni Association Grant; Sias Foundation Grant; "One-Help-One" Grant from Chinese and foreign teachers; Love Enterprise Grant, Love Fund, Work-Study Grants, etc.
National Financial Aid
It is a national financial aid policy jointly funded by the central and local governments to subsidize full-time students and postgraduates with financial difficulties from general category colleges and universities (including higher vocational and second bachelor's degrees).
Standard Award: ¥3,300 per person, per year
National Student Loan
A student can apply for the National Student Loan if they are full-time college students (including higher vocational students), second-degree students, or postgraduates with financial difficulties. This is done through the Student Aid Department of the university or the Student Aid Management Organization of the county (city, district) where they are located.
Standard Award: The maximum annual loan for each student is ¥8,000
Sias Foundation Grants
These grants are set up to help university students with financial difficulties who have excellent grades. In 2019, a total of 65 people were selected for Leadership Scholarship, Social Responsibility Scholarship, Academic Scholarship, and Financial Aid.
Standard Award: (USD) $1,000 per person.
Work-Study Grants
In line with the purpose of serving society, students voluntarily apply for work-study posts when they have the time. These grants encourage students with financial difficulties to compete for posts and obtain legal remuneration through labor to improve their study and living conditions.
Standard Award: ¥5 to ¥7 per hour. The salaries of project workers are calculated according to their approval results.
