Thursday, April 12 – The finals of Sias International University’s 7th Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition were held on the 11th of April. Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun, and Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, attended the finals along with leaders of the Employment and Entrepreneurship Department, leaders of certain Schools at Sias, the head of the Lodging Academy, project instructors, and student representatives.

Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, delivered a speech on behalf of the Sias leadership. He welcomed the judges and congratulated the 16 finalists. He said that Sias actively supported innovative and entrepreneurial work and encouraged students to innovate and pursue business ventures. He said that the joint efforts of students and teachers would create greater achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship at Sias.

Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun, presented honorary letters of employment to national-level judge for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competitions, Zhang Binghong, Henan Public Entrepreneurship Tutor, Li Feng, the Deputy Director of the Xinzheng Municipal Science & Technology Bureau, Hou Shaoli, and the Director of the Xinzheng Municipal Labor Security Management Service Center, Zhao Hongjie. The four guests were also designated as ‘Employment & Entrepreneurship Mentors’ at Sias.

The finalists' were initially graded on 3 criteria - project presentation, PowerPoint reports, and on-site defense. Aspects such as the innovation of the project, practical value, market prospects, and business development potential were also considered. Teams from the School of Business, the School of Foreign Languages, and the School of International Education won the top prizes. The chief judge, CEO of Rui Teyun Technology, Zhang Binghong, gave a comprehensive assessment of various entrepreneurial projects. He also gave the participants ideas and advice on how to further develop and stabilize their projects.

A total of 496 teams entered the 7th Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition when it began in February 2018. After several elimination rounds, 16 teams were selected for the finals. The competition encapsulates the innovation at Sias and the entrepreneurial drive and determination of the students. The competition has grown every year and has provided students with a platform to showcase their ideas, as well as the innovation and entrepreneurship education at Sias.
