Thursday, April 25 - Sias University held the finals of its 2019 Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition on the 24th of April. Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, and Vice President, Wu Hua, attended the finals. The judges at the finals were Henan Provincial Entrepreneurship Tutor, Wang Hong; Innovation & Entrepreneurship Mentor from the Ministry of Education, Wang Hongzhang; Outstanding Innovation & Entrepreneurship Mentor from the Ministry of Education, Jiang Huaqin; Financial Expert Consultant at the Henan Department of Science & Technology, Dong Tao; and Vice Chairman of the Committee of Experts at the China Technological Entrepreneurship Association, Yuan Ang. Also in attendance were faculty members and students involved in innovation and entrepreneurship at Sias.
At the finals, the young entrepreneurs displayed their projects one by one, some of which were based on restaurants, campus services, and mobile phone applications. Others were based on international student culture and residential college reform. After all the presentations, the judges provided feedback and advised the students on their projects. Thirty entrepreneurship projects from the various residential colleges at Sias were each given a 5-minute "project roadshow". After a final rapid-fire question round, teams from Huanyu Residential College and Boyi Residential College tied for first place. The second-place also had a tie between teams from Huanyu Residential College and Zhiyuan Residential College. A team from Zhixing Residential College won the prize for third place.
The Director of Sias' Employment & Entrepreneurship Department, Xiao Ruizhen, presented the Excellent Organizational Award to the winning team from Huanyu Residential College. Wu Hua presented the Best Creative Award for the Digital Age, the Best Commercial Value Award, the Best Driving Award, and the Most Popular Award. Li Huafeng presented the third, second, and first prizes.
Jiang Huaqin praised the contestants and spoke about the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship education. He shared his experiences as an entrepreneurial mentor and advised the students that while making a business plan they should use detailed data, refined language, and intuitive diagrams to express their ideas.
The 2019 Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition was sponsored by Sias University's Employment & Entrepreneurship Department. The response to the competition, which began in March, has been extremely positive. The competition covered 6 fields that included "Internet+" manufacturing, information technology services, cultural and creative services, business services, public services, and the media. There was a significant increase in the number of entries to the competition, while the technological content and scale of projects also showed a sharp rise in quality.
