Sias Hosts 9th Annual Women's Symposium

From May 15 to 17, the 9th Annual Women's Symposium was held at Sias. The guest list included the President and Owner of Global Interactions Inc., Jerrie Ueberle, UN Women China Director, Julie Broussard, UN Women China District Project Coordination, Guo Ruixiang, the President of Ford Motor Company Asia Pacific, David Schoch, and the Asia Manager at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, Jennifer Mao-Jones, as well as the Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, Sias Party Secretary, Fei Hexiang, Sias President, Dr. Richard Li Hua, Sias Vice President, Liu Shuqin, Proctor Han Xiaoai, and Li Haijun. More than 30 countries and regions were represented, and more than 40 Chinese and foreign guests spoke at this event. Representatives from over 30 Chinese universities attended the Symposium as well.


On the morning of May 15, the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Annual Women’s Symposium was held at Sias. Sias President, Dr. Richard Li Hua, presided over the opening ceremony. Dr. Shawn Chen delivered the opening speech, welcomed the guests, and reminded people that the Symposium was founded to guide and help young women develop themselves. Then, the President and Owner of Global Interactions Inc. Jerrie Ueberle, (who is also the Founder of the World Academy for the Future of Women), and UN Women China Director, Julie Broussard, spoke of their common vision, encouraged students to focus on their education, assist their generation, bring comfort to the common people, cultivate universal brotherhood, and gender equality. David Schoch, President of Ford Motor Company Asia Pacific, spoke of how this current generation can make a considerable contribution to social responsibility and sustainable development, and thereby create a better world. Jerrie Ueberle then announced the Awards for the 2015 Outstanding Women Leaders. Finally, there was a performance by the Sias Choir, that led to the closing of the Opening Ceremony.


Over the course of the entire Symposium, a total of nearly 100 lectures were delivered, and experts spoke about women's liberation, examples of successful women, and education. There was also a reception for the guests at the Chinese Garden, a Welcome Banquet, a forum for mothers and daughters to share their experiences, and a special performance of the "Chinese Butterfly" opera.


The Closing Ceremony was held on May 17. Sias Party Secretary, Fei Hexiang, delivered a speech. Then, Jennifer Mao-Jones, Asia Manager at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, delivered a keynote speech. Jerrie Ueberle announced the 2015 Outstanding Women Leader Awards list, and Catherine Jennings, Co-Founder of The Focus Group Consulting, spoke about the United Nations' Millenium Development Projects. Finally, Jerrie Ueberle presented certificates to the graduates who received the Women's Academy Development Certification.
