In order to further summarize the development experience of the university, strengthen the exchange and mutual promotion among universities, deepen the connotation development of the academic system reforms, and promote the cultivation of innovative talents. On May 26, the First International Forum on the Reform of College Educational Models was opened in our university.
The theme of this forum is “The Development and Transformation of Universities in the Future: Effective Measures and Paths of Modern Academic System to Cultivate Future Innovative Talents.” In attendance were delegates from Tsinghua University, University of Macau, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, East China Normal University, and Southern University of Science and Technology. Nearly 500 experts, scholars, and college representatives from 85 well-known universities, including: Oxford University, Fort Hays State University, University of Nevada, etc., all gathered to discuss the current state of education and the future developmental trends of college education reform.
Dr. Shawn Chen, the Founder and Chairman of the Board of SIAS University, extended a warm welcome to all the distinguished guests. He said that with the spirit of “reform always underway,” SIAS has continuously promoted the reform process of the residential college system and educational model. After years of practice and construction, nine residential college have been built, forming a student-centered model with professional colleges and residential colleges cooperating with each other. In 2021 and 2022 respectively, SIAS University held the Henan Province Academy of Classical Learning System Reform Workshops, which fully proved the effectiveness of the college system reforms of our university. At this forum, “I hope that everyone will face the world and explore the laws and needs of talent training from the future development trends,” Dr. Chen said.
Subsequently, the Henan Provincial Academy of Classical Learning System Reform of Educational Models and Guidance Centre was inaugurated, with 29 Henan Higher Education Mode Demonstration Colleges being established and awarded, and representatives of Henan Provincial Academy of Classical Learning System Reform of Educational Models being awarded for their papers on the topic.
The forum lasted for two days, with 12 thematic lectures, 3 sub-forums, 26 Chinese and foreign participants and other well-known experts exchanging and discussing topics such as “Practical Exploration of College System Educational Models,” “New Requirements of Talen Training Goal on College System Education,” “Characteristics and Experience of College System Student Management Models,” and “Realistic Thinking of College Construction in the Future.”
During the forum, special immersive experiences took place. The organizing committee of the forum held a night garden experience, a special concert, parade float competition, campus cultural performances and other such activities. Guests and student witnessed a wide-ranging and diverse educational environment on full display. In this rich and immersive atmosphere, participants were treated to the delights of exchanging wisdom and ideas that were fully consonant with the cross-pollination of Chinese and Western ideas.
