International Culture Week

The International Culture Week (ICW) is a 6-day festival that was set up to enhance students' knowledge of traditional cultures around the world, and enable students to experience the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures. It also provides students with the opportunity to learn about various cultures to broaden their horizons and improve their cross-cultural communication.

Each day is designated for a specific region, namely, China Day, Asia Day, Latin America & Africa Day, Europe Day, and North America & Australia Day. Students and foreign teachers put on a visual showcase of different cultures, with informational displays, musical and dance performances, and interactive games. With its focus on internationalization, it has over 30 academic lectures during the week.

China Day involves a wide range of traditional Chinese arts and crafts, such as paper cutting, glass blowing, calligraphy, and gourd pyrography. Asia Day, which is organized by Sias' international students, features the sights and sounds from many countries across Asia, particularly from Southeast Asia and Central Asia. The students dress up in the various traditional costumes from Asian countries and set up informative and educational boards around Sias' Italian Square. The evening's performances are packed with traditional dances and songs. On Latin America & Africa Day, students learn about cultures through dance, music, and portrayals of festivals that exist in Central and South America. They also learn about African culture and the continent's natural beauty. Europe Day features informational boards about various countries in Europe. Foreign teachers put on shows during the day in the Italian Square. Many dress up in traditional European clothes giving students an introduction to the ancient, medieval, and renaissance periods. Organized by Sias' foreign faculty, North America & Australia Day features a Hollywood walk, hip hop dances, and several games like miniature golf and bean bag toss. The Italian Square is set up like a fairground. The International Culture Week Finale, the closing ceremony of the International Culture Week at Sias, features selected acts from the previous 5 days.

One of the major traditions at Sias, the International Culture Week has been held for 23 consecutive years - every year in Sias' history.
