A high-level media delegation from Pakistan visited Sias on November 1. The delegation toured the Sias campus in detail and had a meeting with the Sias President, the Director of the Department of Global Exchange, and the Director of the Sias News Center.

The ten-member delegation included the Media Coordinator for the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), and Columnist for the Daily Jang, Muhammad Mehdi; Columnist and Anchor, Pakistan Television Network (PTN), Rauf Tahir; Senior Journalist, and Bureau Chief, Centreline Magazine and DNA News Agency, Yasir Habib Khan; Editor of Daily Pakistan, and Secretary-General for the All Pakistan Newspapers Society, Umer Mujib Shami; Political Correspondent for Dawn (Pakistan's oldest and most widely-read English newspaper), Zulqernain Tahir; Editor Reporting and Columnist for The News, Mian Saif ur Rehman; Editor Reporting for the Daily Jang, Pervaiz Bashir; Chief Reporter for The Nation, Sajid Zia; Staff Reporter for the Daily Express, Shahbaz Anwar Khan; and Staff Reporter for The Express Tribune, Imran Adnan. The delegation was accompanied by members of the South Asia Center at China Radio International (CRI). They included the Deputy Director, and Urdu Service Director, Zhao Qiao; the Senior Translator of the Urdu Language Department, Feng Ye; and a Reporter from the Urdu Language Department, Qin Shengrui.

The delegation was led on the campus tour by the Director of the Department of Global Exchange, Jinjin Chu, and the Director of the Sias News Center, Li Yuxin. After the extensive tour, the delegation had a meeting with the Sias President.

Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun, introduced the University and spoke about its history, growth, and international elements. He said that Sias had grown exponentially in the past 20 years from just 300 students in 1998 to over 27,000 at present. He also spoke about Sias' cooperation with Zhengzhou University, Fort Hays State University, and the provincial government. He shed light on Sias' unique educational philosophy and its goal of training students for the implementation and practice of knowledge learned. The internationalization of the university was reflected in the architecture and the presence of a large international faculty. Sias also has 114 Partner schools from 35 countries, with over 250 international students on campus as well.

President Chen spoke of the One Belt One Road Initiative and said that it aims to build economic and cultural connections with all countries that lie on the Road. He said that Sias International University supports this policy and believes that all those involved can benefit from it. Sias also benefits from scholarships provided by the Henan Provincial Government. Some of these scholarships are specifically designated for international students. Over 50% of international students who received the Henan Province scholarships were from nations in the One Belt One Road region. President Chen said that Sias hopes for more Pakistani students, and also hopes to build partnerships with Pakistani universities. He said that Sias would encourage faculty and student exchanges between Henan and Pakistan, and he said that he hoped that this meeting would facilitate it.

In closing, the Media Coordinator for the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Muhammad Mehdi, who was also the head of the delegation, said that he was grateful for the campus tour and the detailed introduction to Sias. He welcomed President Chen to visit Pakistan and also thanked him for the invitation for Pakistani students to study at Sias.
