Sias International University organized an Orchestra Concert to welcome the newly arrived freshmen. The concert was held at the Basketball Arena on September 10. The Chairman of the Board, Dr. Shawn Chen, Sias President, Chen Sikun, Executive President, Wang Jialin, Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, and Assistant Principal, Guo Xuede, were present at the concert. Deans and Party leaders of academic schools and residential colleges at Sias, military training instructors, and all the freshmen of the 2018/19 academic year were present at the concert.

Before the concert began, Dr. Shawn Chen spoke about Western Classical and Orchestral music. The orchestra was conducted by the nationally renowned conductor, Hu Bianying. He is also the permanent conductor of the Sias Military Band.

The concert incorporated not just Western Classical music, but folk music from around the world, Henan opera, and military songs from China. There was also a musical instrument exhibition for teachers and students to learn about Western Classical music. The concert ended with the singing of the Radetzky March.

Since its founding in November 2005, the Sias Symphony Orchestra has maintained a high standard and professionalism that has led it to make a name for itself and its members. The Sias Symphony Orchestra is a result of Sias' East-meets-West educational philosophy, supported by the leadership and Communist Youth League.
