On the morning of October 30, Sias International University held the opening ceremony for its 19th International Culture Week. The ceremony was held at Sias' Italian Square where a number of folk artists and artisans had set up shop. The Sias leadership was present, including the Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, Sias Party Secretary, Fei Hexiang, Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun, Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng. Also in attendance were Chinese and foreign guests, and many students and teachers. The Director of the Office of International Relations, Julian Yue, presided over the ceremony.
Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun, delivered the opening speech. He said that as an international university that fuses Chinese and Western education, Sias has always attached great importance to a well-rounded education. The International Culture Week is one of Sias' most important campus-wide festivals that aimed to educate students about cultures from around the world, thereby broadening their horizons. He then officially announced the opening of the 19th International Culture Week.
The opening ceremony also involved a traditional Chinese Lion Dance and a short magic show. Sias' Italian Square was filled with several stalls that exhibited traditional Chinese culture, including a weaving loom, gourd pyrography, calligraphy, portrait sketching, art, and sculpture.
Sias' 19th International Culture Week attracts guests and guest speakers from all across the globe. It will be held for 6 days and will include designated days for celebrating the cultures from different regions of the world - China Day, Asia Day, Latin America & Africa Day, Europe Day, and North America & Australia Day.
