Sias International University held its 6th annual High Table Banquet on November 3 in the Banquet Hall of the new Sias library. The High Table Banquet was introduced by the Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, to expose students to international dining etiquette and prepare them for professional life after graduation.
Among the guests at the Banquet were the Dean of the American Film Institute Conservatory at the American Film Institute, Jan Schuette; the Assistant Provost for Strategic Partnerships at Fort Hays State University, Cindy Elliott; Inspector at the North-Central Higher Education Commission in the U.S.A., Karlene Tyler; Vice Chairman of the World Federation of the United Nations Associations, Jayant Jethwa; Chairman of the Board of Daffodil International University in Bangladesh, and Council Member of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), Sabur Khan; Vice President of Academic Affairs at Adamson University, and Council Member of the AUAP, Dr. Catherine Q. Castañeda; Vice President of Voronezh State University in Russia, Prof. Dr. Sergey Zapryagaev; Vice President of Naresuan University in Thailand, Dr. Sukkid Yasothornsrikul; Secretary of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), Supaporn Chuangchid; the Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs and Overseas Affairs Office in Henan Province, Yang Weibin; the Founder of Beijing Society Technology Development, Lin Feng; Former General Manager of the TCL Group Information Center, Yuan Maike; Associate Professor at the National Cheng Kung University, Dr. Zhang Peiyi; Party Secretary of the Changchun Institute of Finance & Economics, Liu Chengli; as well as other Chinese and international guests.
Sias was represented by the Chairman of the Board, Dr. Shawn Chen; Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun; Vice President, Liu Shuqin; Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng; and Assistant Principals, Sun Rujian, and Guo Xuede. Nearly 300 guests attended the High Table Banquet, including students representing all the schools at Sias, international students, and members of Sias' foreign faculty as well. The Director of the Office of International Relations, Yue Junliang, presided over the Banquet.
After the red carpet entry, the Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, introduced the guests and delivered a speech. He welcomed the guests and said that he hoped that through this Banquet, students would get an insight into Western culture, thereby broadening their horizons and encouraging them to see things from a different viewpoint. The Banquet would also enhance their capabilities of interacting with different strata of society.
The Dean of the American Film Institute Conservatory at the American Film Institute, Jan Schuette, delivered a speech and said that the High Table Banquet would help students learn the culture and customs of different countries through a meaningful activity. He shared some of his personal experiences and encouraged students to remain curious about the world, be diligent in their work, and not be afraid to make mistakes.
The Founder of Beijing Society Technology Development, Lin Feng, said that he was surprised by Sias' demonstration of both Chinese and Western architectural styles, as well as the internationalization on campus. He said that he hoped that students would make use of the high-quality resources provided by the University.
After the speeches, Dr. Shawn Chen and Lin Feng delivered the toast. The High Table Banquet also featured performances by the Sias Orchestra during the dinner.
