Sias International University held its annual Charity Banquet on November 18 in the new library. The Banquet was set up to raise money and awareness to help students whose families have economic difficulties complete their studies. The Charity Banquet had both foreign and Chinese guests present, as well as members of the Sias hierarchy, department leaders, teachers, and students.
The Banquet began with a silent auction to raise money for the students. After this, a video, produced by the Sias News Center, was shown that presented the plight of some Sias students and their families who are in need.
The Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, welcomed the guests and thanked those who had come to the Charity Banquet. He said that he was moved by the struggle and efforts of students and greatly appreciated the help given to them. He said that people should be socially responsible and that efforts to help others would benefit society as a whole. Sias continually carries out fund-raising activities throughout the year for the purpose of helping students in need.
