The 2nd ASEAN-China Youth Forum was held at Zhengzhou University on September 21 and 22. The Forum was sponsored by the ASEAN-China Center, Henan Province's Ministry of Education, Zhengzhou University. The Forum had members of the ASEAN-China Center's Department of Education, ASEAN Embassy officials, as well Chinese and South-East Asian students from universities across 11 provinces in China. The goal of the Forum was to facilitate exchanges and discussions. South-East Asian students from Sias International University were invited to the Forum and delivered keynote speeches.
Students at the 2nd ASEAN-China Youth Forum were split into 4 groups – ASEAN-China Social Work and Community Development, Community Volunteer Service, Social Work and Voluntary Service for Specialized Development, and Community Volunteering and Youth Participation. Sias student, Devina Laurensia Joewono, from Indonesia, delivered a speech titled, 'Nurturing the Spirit of Community Volunteering'. A Laotian student at Sias, Mixaiyalath Souphalin, spoke on 'Community Volunteering and Youth Participation'. Sayakone Thavisouk, also a Laotian student delivered the closing speech at the Forum.
The ASEAN-China Youth Forum included theoretical discussion as well as field trips. Through discussions and exchanges, Chinese and South-East Asian students have improved their understanding of each other and hope to contribute to relations between China and ASEAN nations.
