The 2017 Henan Province University Libraries Conference was held at Sias International University on Friday, April 14. The senior leaders present were the Director of the Henan Province Universities & Colleges Library and Information Committee, Cui Muyue; Deputy Secretary-General of the National Universities & Colleges Library and Information Committee, Wang Bo; Deputy Director of the Higher Education Department in the Henan Province Department of Education, Yue Desheng; Deputy Director of the Henan Province Library Association, Shen Shaochun; Chairman of the Henan Province Science and Technology Information Society, Zhu Mingshu; Chairman of the Zhengzhou City Library Association, Li Hongyan; Deputy Director of the Henan Province Universities & Colleges Library and Information Committee, Zhang Huaitao; Deputy Director of the Henan Province Universities & Colleges Library and Information Committee, Li Jinwen; Director of Zhengzhou University Library, Yao Wu. Sias was represented by the Founder, and Chairman of the Board, Dr. Shawn Chen, and Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun. Over 200 university librarians from across the province of Henan attended the conference. Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the Henan Province Universities & Colleges Library and Information Committee, Cui Bo, presided over the conference.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Shawn Chen delivered the opening speech. He welcomed the leaders and experts while introducing them to Sias' history, cultural environment, and curriculum. He said that the university library was not merely a place on campus to provide resources, but is also a platform for shaping the future and scientific research through knowledge. He said he hoped that students would be able to use the advanced facilities provided to their advantage.

A series of speeches were delivered by Cui Muyue, Wang Bo, Shen Shaochun, Zhu Mingshu, Li Hongyan, and Yue Desheng. There was also an awards ceremony at which Sias International University was awarded the title of 'Advanced Library Management and Service Innovation' among universities in Henan Province.

The conference lasted two days and included a review of the developments in Henan's university libraries in 2016, their prospects for growth in 2017, and group discussions of academic reports on development plans for Henan's university libraries.
