Sias International University held a 'Charity Banquet' on November 19 in the Ballroom of the New Library to raise money and awareness to help students in need complete their studies.

The chief guests included the Deputy Director of Henan province Department of Culture, Kang Jie; Senior Vice President of Wanda Group, Zhu Zhanbei; Co-founder of Titanium Media, Wan Ning; Vice President of Henan province's Party School, Liang Zhoumin; Chairman of Zhengzhou Co. Ltd., Li Wei; Dean of Henan province People's Hospital, Gu Jianqin; Vice President of the Zhengzhou branch of Guangdong Development Bank, Gao Qizhi; Deputy Secretary of Zhengzhou Coal Group, Gao Zhenguo; Deputy Party Secretary of the North China University of Water Conservancy and Electric Power, Shi Pin; Director of the Department of Geriatric Medicine at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, Li Hua; Xinzheng Municipal Committee, and United Front Work Department Minister, Qin Caixia; President of the Zhengzhou branch of Central Bank of China, Liu Qingfen; Chairman of the Chuying Agro-Pastoral Group, Hou Jianfang; Vice-President of the Henan Education Group, Guan Ying Jia Fei; and Chairman of Xinzheng City Rural Commercial Bank, Ma Wenming.

Also present were the Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen; Sias Party Secretary, Fei Hexiang; Sias President, Chen Sikun; Vice President Liu Shuqin; Assistant Principal, Sun Rujian; heads of departments, representatives of teachers and students, and some of Sias' foreign faculty.

The event began with a silent auction, followed by videos presenting the plight of some Sias students who are in need. Dr. Shawn Chen welcomed the guests and spoke of the struggles of some students, and that they greatly appreciated the help given to them. He said that social responsibility concerned everyone, and a harmonious society depended on the kindness and generosity of those in more privileged positions. He also spoke of his pleasure that so many were willing to donate to the cause of students in need so as to assist in alleviating their financial hardship.
