Delegation from Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta visits Sias

A delegation from Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY), from Bantul, Indonesia, visited Sias International University on March 28 and 29. The delegation had more than 20 members and was received by Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun, Proctor Han Xiaoai, and Assistant Principal, Guo Xuede. Leaders from the research departments and the School of International Cultural Exchange also held meetings with the delegation.


On March 28, the delegation from UMY went on a campus tour, accompanied by the Dean of the School of International Cultural Exchange, Jinjin Chu. The delegation later spent time with Indonesian foreign exchange students and discussed their life and activities at Sias.


On March 29, the delegation met with senior leaders of Sias and discussed cooperation and exchanges between the Sias and UMY. Sias Proctor, Han Xiaoai, spoke about the history of Sias and encouraged deeper cooperation and academic exchanges between the two universities. Representatives from UMY then participated in an academic conference jointly organized by Sias' Research Department, the School of Arts & Sciences, and the School of International Cultural Exchange. The focus of the conference was to explore how to promote cultural exchanges and dialogue in the context of globalization.


At the conference, Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun, welcomed the guests and thanked them for the academic ties with Sias that promoted cooperation between the two universities. He said that this was a rare opportunity to advance the experience of teaching and academic management through dialogue and exchanges. UMY delegates Dr. Ali Mohammad, Dr. Nur Azizah, Dr. Sidik Jatmika, and Dr. Ali Maksum, as well as the Dean of the School of International Cultural Exchange, Jinjin Chu, exchanged ideas about the promotion of cultural and academic exchanges. Assistant Principal, Guo Xuede, delivered the closing address of the conference and spoke about the impact of globalization on academic exchanges, as well as the growing exchanges between China and Indonesia. He said that this was helping to develop a significant culture of research amid cross-cultural communication, and had deepened the friendship between the two universities.
