A general assembly, parade, and military drills were held to mark the Opening Ceremony for the freshmen of the academic year 2016-17 at Sias' Track & Field Stadium on the morning of September 20.

Guests at the Opening Ceremony included President of the Sias Foundation, Dr. Alan Brown; Sias Foundation Board Member and future President of the Sias Foundation, Jeff Jorde; President of Fort Hays State University, Dr. Mirta Martin; Assistant Dean for Accreditation and Assessment at Fort Hays State University's School of Business, Merri Incitti; President and Owner of Global Interactions, Inc. and founder of the World Academy for the Future of Women, Jerrie Ueberle; Chinese Artist and art collector, Zhao Tailai; Actor and thespian, Xu Guoyin; Dean of the Sino-U.S. International Golf Academy, Hu Rui; and Former Executive Vice-President of Sias International University, Dong Qiming. Sias International University was represented by Chairman of the Board, Dr. Shawn Chen; Sias Party Secretary Fei Hexiang; Sias President Dr. Chen Sikun; Vice President, Liu Shuqin; Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng; and Assistant Principal, Sun Rujian.

After speeches by Dr. Alan Brown and Jeff Jorde, over 7,000 freshmen dressed in military fatigues marched past the main stand for inspection. Special military skills and drills were performed by some groups of freshmen. Following this, there were speeches by Vice President Liu Shuqin, Assistant Principal, Sun Rujian, and Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, who also presented awards to freshmen who had exhibited exemplary conduct and performance during the 15 days of military training.

Dr. Shawn Chen concluded the ceremony by thanking the military instructors for their hard work in training a new batch of freshmen students. He said that he hoped that the students would remember this training as it would hold them in good stead for the rest of their adult lives.
