Sias holds talks with University of Huddersfield

June 14, 2016

Sias International University was visited by representatives of the University of Huddersfield, U.K. They included the Director for International Development, and Professor of International Strategy, Dr. John Anchor; International Partnerships Manager, Tony Wong; and Director of the Beijing Office, Yang Yilei.

The three representatives had a meeting with Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun, and senior members of Sias' Business School, including the Dean, Andrew Zhao. Both sides briefed each other on the history, characteristics, and goals of their respective universities, including the encouragement given to students to focus on innovation and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Chen Sikun said that cooperation between Sias International University and the University of Huddersfield would be mutually beneficial for teachers and students of both universities. The desire for this cooperation showed Sias' international strategic development policy.

The delegation then held talks with senior members of Sias' Business School. Dr. John Anchor praised the rapid development of Sias, and spoke of his introduction of 'sandwich courses' – undergraduate degrees wherein the first two years were taught, the third was a year of internship, and the fourth a year of instruction. He said that the implementation of such courses helped students find work after graduation because their education was not just theoretical. The two sides decided to set up preliminary cooperation, with the goal of ultimately establishing long-term cooperative agreements.
