2013 Commencement

On May 26, Sias International University held its annual commencement in the Basketball Arena. University leaders and guests from both China and abroad attended the event. The guests included 2007 Nobel Peace Prize winner and Professor of Geological Science and Atmospheric Science at the University of Arizona, Dr.Jonathan Overpeck, author and professor at New York University, Dr. Ann Lee, a member of the American Higher Education Committee, Dr. Robert Lykins, former Vice President of the CPPCC, Chen Yichu, the Vice President of Zhengzhou University, the President of Fort Hays State University, Dr. Edward Hammond, the President of the Sias Foundation, Dr. Alan Brown, the President of Global Interactions, Inc., Jerrie Ueberle, Dr. Song Maoping. Sias Vice President, Dong Qiming, hosted the ceremony.


The ceremony began with the Chinese and American national anthems. The Founder of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, introduced the guests and delivered the opening speech. In his speech, he wished the teaching faculty and students and said that he hoped that all the graduates would persevere, be creative, and nurture an attitude of lifelong learning.


This was followed by speeches by Dr. Song Maoping, Dr. Edward Hammond, Dr. Alan Brown, Dr. Ann Lee, Dr. Jonathan Overpeck, a teachers' representative, and a student representative. They congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to seize opportunities to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others.


In the awarding ceremony, many excellent graduates got prizes for their four years of hard work.
