Opening Ceremony of Sias' China-US Startup Incubation Center

November 13, 2012

On November 3, 2012, Sias International University held the Opening Ceremony & Signing Ceremony of the China-US Startup Incubation Center. Many international guests, university leaders, and over 100 students attended the ceremony.

Established by Sias International University and the Amidi Group (USA), the Sias Sino-US Startup Incubation Center aims to offer funds and entrepreneurship training for entrepreneurs to start businesses, enhance the cooperation between Chinese and foreign companies, and accelerate the process of the internationalization of the Chinese high-tech industry. By providing the capital, the technology, the market, the human resources, and the legal services, for which newly started companies have a great need, the center is committed to helping the companies grow quickly. Its final goal is to bring the same operating model to 20 - 30 universities.

When asked why he established the center, Dr. Shawn Chen said that the Chinese economy had entered into a critical period where demographic advantages had passed. Therefore, a gap had grown with the development of China. The Incubation Center will serve as a place to fill that gap. Many social aspects affect the innovation of the Chinese, such as low salaries, environmental problems, population growth, and education. But after some people go abroad, they change their perspectives and make a difference. Sias is an East-meets-West university, where innovation and borrowing ideas from others are a core part of its development strategy. The introduction of a well-known U.S. venture company's operating model and the operational skills of its incubation centers will provide a platform for Chinese people to innovate and start businesses.
