School of Nursing celebrates 100th Anniversary of International Nurses' Day

September 26, 2012

On May 12, Sias International University's School of Nursing held a "Lamp-Passing" and "Cap-Granting" Ceremony. Sias President, Li Haijun, 36th Florence Nightingale Medalist and Vice-Chairman of the Nursing Association of Henan Province, Kong Furong, and other guests from the nursing field attended the ceremony. The ceremony was held to celebrate the 100th International Nurses' Day and remember the contributions of Florence Nightingale.

During the ceremony, a symbolic lamp was handed from one nurse to another, which signified the passing of knowledge. Eight nursing experts granted dovetail caps to a group of nursing students. Li Haijun said that nursing was one of the noblest professions in society. He hoped the students would always keep the Nightingale Pledge in mind and make selfless contributions to society.
