2012 Homecoming Day

Sias International University celebrated its 11th annual Homecoming Day on May 26.


The festivities began with the Homecoming Parade with floats, a performance by the military band, painting and calligraphy exhibitions, and other art exhibitions.


The Homecoming Ceremony was held after the parade. The guests included delegations from Sofia University, Green Mountain College, Touro University, Zhejiang University, and the Sias Foundation.


During the ceremony, the Founder, and Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, introduced the guests and delivered the opening speech. He said that globalization promoted cultural diversification, and the Homecoming Day at Sias highlighted its unique 'East-meets-West' educational model. He also stressed that critical thinking and innovative ability should be of paramount importance in university students' education. This was followed by speeches by the President of Green Mountain College, Dr. Paul Fonteyn, the Secretary of the Association of Universities in Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), Dr. Neal King, the President of Zhejiang University, Zheng Qiang, and Parents Representative, Wang Jianping.


Dr. Chen appointed Dr. Edward Hammond as an honorary Chancellor of Sias International University. Following this, Sias President, Li Haijun, signed cooperation agreements with Sofia University, Green Mountain College, and Touro University.
