Sias International University celebrated its 2008 Commencement on May 31.
The chief guests included the Vice President of Zhengzhou University, Prof. Zheng Lingyu, the President of Fort Hays State University, Dr. Edward Hammond, the President of Northeast Oklahoma State University, Dr. Jeanette Cunningham, the Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, and Sias leaders, Wu Tiejun, Xiao Yunlong, Zhang Xinmin, Guo Tianbang, and Qi Chaoren. Hundreds of parents, faculty members, and all the graduates of the class of 2008 were present. Sias President, Li Haijun, presided over the ceremony
At the beginning of the commencement, Dr. Shawn Chen introduced the guests and delivered a speech. He wished the graduates on behalf of Sias and said that they should keep on studying, developing their skills, and serving society. He also told them to pursue success and never give failure any excuse.
This was followed by speeches from Zheng Lingyu, Dr. Edward Hammond, Dr. Jeanette Cunningham, and Yang Bo, all of whom congratulated the graduates. Graduate Representative, Sun Guangqian, gave the concluding speech. On behalf of all the graduates, he thanked Sias and promised that he would not fail the expectations Sias had of him. He also said that he will always try to contribute to Sias' development in the future.
The chief guests and university leaders of Sias took part in the awards ceremony for the graduates. Dr. Edward Hammond announced the students who had graduated with dual degrees. The commencement concluded with a performance by the choir from the School of Opera.
