Sias University held a special meeting for the assessment of the damage caused by the recent flooding. Sias Party Secretary, Ma Jiansheng, Acting President, Zhao Yuxin, Deputy Party Secretary, and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, Li Huafeng, and Vice President, Zheng Min, attended the meeting. Leaders of the Administration Office, Academic Affairs & Scientific Research Department, Supervision & Audit Department, Academic Affairs Office, Human Resources Department, Financial Assets Department, Propaganda Department, Infrastructure Department, Security Office, Library, and Logistics Department were also present.

After all the departments reported on the assessment of the damage caused by the flood, the Director of the Administration Office, Qin Nan, spoke about the 'Notice on Safety Management During the Flood Season' issued by the Working Committee of Colleges and Universities of the Henan Communist Party Committee, and the Henan Department of Education.

Zheng Min pointed out that the damage caused by the record heavy rainfall in Henan had brought about several risks. She said that all departments should work towards disaster relief. She said that they should ensure that there are sufficient material reserves and work towards flood safety. She also said that the safety of the teaching staff was important and they should be educated and guided about not spreading rumors. Information should be reported accurately without delay, omission, or concealment, and supervision of the network dynamics was to be ensured.

Li Huafeng said that the division of labor was important and all departments should have a clear sense of their responsibilities to ensure the safety and security of life and property, with the priority being the safety of students and teachers. He said that all departments should carry out investigations into the damage for the repair and improvement of the university's infrastructure.

Ma Jiansheng stressed that the campus flood control and disaster reduction work was related to the safety of teachers and students. All departments should establish leading groups to deal with this work and to prevent secondary issues and problems concerning the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that campus safety was not a trivial matter, and the investigation and rectification of potential safety hazards were paramount.

Zhao Yuxin said that all departments should refine their safety work at Sias according to the requirements of the 'Notice on Safety Management During the Flood Season'. He said that a flood control leading group should be established which would oversee the division of labor, assignment of responsibilities, and inter-departmental cooperation, for the safety of students and teachers, both on and off the Sias campus.

Before and after the meeting, the Sias leaders led the heads of various relevant departments on an on-site inspection of the facilities on campus, including student dormitories, teachers' apartment buildings, and teaching facilities.
