Sias Women's Team finishes 5th (2nd Division) at CUBA Finals

The 23rd CUBA National Basketball Championships, held at the Shandong Agricultural University, ended on the 29th of July after 9 days and 65 matches. Sias University's Women's Basketball team finished 5th in the Second Division. The team was led by the Dean of the School of Physical Education, He Zuxin, Team Leader, Zhu Sirui, and coaches Ma Xiaoting and Cao Bin.


The championships involved 348 players from 29 universities such as Minzu University of China, Xiamen University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Wuhan University. In the group stage, Sias' Women's Basketball team beat Liaoning Petrochemical University 61-53; Inner Mongolia University of Technology 64-33; and Nanchang University 69-21. In the knockout round, they beat Kunming University of Science and Technology 65-42; Guizhou University of Finance and Economics 61-29; and Zhejiang Gongshang University 73-70. The Sias Women's Basketball team finished in the 5th place at the 23rd CUBA National Basketball Championships with 6 wins from 7 games.


Guo Huimin, a member of the Sias team, won the title of Best Rebounder (with 13.8 rebounds per game) and the Ethics Award. Li Yingjun ranked 2nd in assists with 2.9 assists per game. Coach Ma Xiaotong won the Excellent Coach Award.
