On the 1st of August, Sias University held a special meeting concerning the prevention and control of the recent Coronavirus outbreak in Henan. The meeting focused on the implementation of the regulations put forward by the Henan Central Committee and the Henan Government concerning the outbreak of the Coronavirus, and the safety of the Sias campus. The leaders of the Leading Group for Prevention & Control at Sias were present - Sias Party Secretary, Ma Jiansheng, Acting President, Zhao Yuxin, Deputy Party Secretary, and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, Li Huafeng, Vice President, Xu Shengdao, Vice President, and Chairman of the Trade Union, Wu Hua, and Vice President, Zheng Min. All the heads of special working groups also attended the meeting.
The Henan Department of Education's report titled, "On the Province's Education System's Prevention of the Risk of Coronavirus Transmission, and Dissemination of the Emergency Notice", and the report titled, "Zhengzhou Education Bureau on the Suspension of Summer Activities" were both presented in a video conference at the meeting. Those in attendance listened to the presentation of the reports, as well as updates on the work carried out at Sias for the prevention and control of the outbreak. The reports were analyzed, discussed, and studied in detail, while new arrangements were made for the next steps in the prevention and control of the Coronavirus at Sias.
It was pointed out that the recent outbreak had coincided with the flooding in Henan, with natural disasters and the pandemic coinciding. All teaching staff should prioritize the directives in thought and action, understand the complexity and importance of the work regarding the prevention and control of the Coronavirus, and implement these directives at all levels in the university according to the division of responsibilities. The leaders encouraged people to not remain vigilant and not let their guard down against weariness, to be ready to fight a long battle against the situation, and make scientific, accurate, and detailed arrangements to fight the pandemic to the end. They also put gave instructions for control measures that included closing the campus and blocking the transmission of the Coronavirus. Each special work team was instructed to rely on the leaders' instructions, make specific and detailed plans, and improve the working mechanism in place.
The leaders stressed the need to quickly improve the prevention and control mechanisms for the Coronavirus outbreak, establish a 24-hour three-tiered duty system, and present daily reports that would account for information, including early detection, early reporting, early isolation, and early treatment. They emphasized the importance of the safety defense line, the security of the campus, the controlled access to the campus for vehicles, and temperature measurement, for the safety of teachers and students both inside and outside the university. They also spoke about the supply of protective materials through multiple channels, the efficient allocation of various resources, and the need for reserves of emergency support materials. They encouraged staff to speed up nucleic acid testing and detection, and create a smooth mechanism for staff that needed to be isolated, thereby creating a safety barrier as soon as possible. Education, mobilization, and vaccination were other important topics covered.
