The 19th Triennial Summit of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) was held from the 29th to the 31st of July (at local time in Mexico City - CDT). The Founder, and Chairman of the Board of Sias University, Dr. Shawn Chen, was elected to be the President of the IAUP from 2024 to 2027.

The summit attracted representatives of over 400 colleges and universities from more than 40 countries, including over 50 presidents, experts, and scholars from internationally renowned universities. The current Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, sent a congratulatory video and wished the summit a success.

After the meeting, experts and scholars discussed the topic of "Innovation and Integration". Dr. Shawn Chen delivered a keynote speech titled, "Effective Measures Before and After the Pandemic", and shared about the educational innovation at Sias and other Chinese universities under the constraints brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the summit, the IAUP held a general election, following which, Dr. Shawn Chen was elected to be the President of the IAUP from 2024 to 2027. Dr. Chen is the current Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of the IAUP. It is the second time that Dr. Chen will serve as the president of an international education organization, having served as the president of the Association of Universities of Asia & the Pacific (AUAP). Sias University will host the 20th triennial summit of the IAUP in 2024.
